It looks like GitHub has recognised a genuine issue with PATs but hasn't fully implemented the solution yet. |

This is very strange given the blog mentions missing packages support at all: https://github.blog/changelog/2025-03-18-fine-grained-pats-are-now-generally-available/ |

Another missing feature of packages is the option to authenticate as a GitHub app with the installation token to not require a (fine grained) PAT to access other internal packages of your org/enterprise: https://docs.github.com/en/apps/creating-github-apps/authenticating-with-a-github-app/authenticating-as-a-github-app-installation |

Hi! Why was this issue removed from the public roadmap?
github/roadmap#558
Can we expect it to come back someday, or is this a feature GitHub has abandoned and will never implement? I would love to be able to decide which packages/images I can access using a given token.
